I rarely use this space to encourage the readers here to go out and vote in this or that internet poll. Nor do I talk much about team mascots. In fact, without using the search feature here, I think I can safely say that I have never done so. Generally, such things are a waste of time.
However, there is one going on now that can be of some benefit so a real person whom I have met. That would be Chief Zee, the Redskins unofficial mascot. I have associated the man with the Redskins ever since I started going to games in 1967. You will not meet a more kind, pleasant person.
CBS Sportsline is conducting a bracket poll competition to see who the voters think is the "most fierce" NFL mascot. Most of the other mascots are those stuffed-animal looking things that sort of prance around in the end zone during games. While I'm sure that those costumes are filled with decent people, they probably haven't been going to games during parts of five decades. I doubt that any of them could name the starting offensive line for the team they represent.
Anyway, you can go here to check out the poll. The voting ends today (6/17) so slip in a vote or two for Chief Zee.
