Tight end Chris Cooley held court for what felt like 25-30 minutes in the locker room Monday morning and was clearly excited about how his knee reacted to playing against the Giants. Some of his leftovers:
* On his 2011 prospects: “To be honest, I think I can be one of the best tight ends in the league. I have no doubt about that. The work ethic will be there more than it ever has been this year.”
* On the wrap he looked ‘hobbled’: “That was the common word used – hobbled. I watched a lot of the routes and a couple seam routes and I looked back at last year and I’m running down the seam faster than I was last year.”
* On the early vibes: “It’s so important for me to play for this team, I’m not willing to miss time or sit out. I want to make a difference on this team. I know a lot of guys are saying this and it’s still early, [but] there’s something special happening in our locker room and I’m not willing to not be a part of that.”
Cooley or Davis? If the Redskins can only keep one after this season who do you keep? Let us know in the comments.

Why ask you keep Davis who is younger, stronger and has a higher upside.

Let's hope they can keep both. Cooley is Mr. Redskins! Davis has more upside and can take over the #1 slot when Cooley retires after starting and ending his career in Washington DC.

I love Cooley but the smart football decision would be to keep Davis.

Trade Cooley and let's keep getting younger. It hurts to say it, but Cooley is one of my all time favorites...

What is the salaray cap number for Cooley? If it is above 4 million, we definitely need to use that space and upgrade the offensive line. Let's keep Grossman on his feet, rather than on his beehind.

i think cooley's cap hit is something like 6.1 or 6.2 next season. way to high, i agree, but if he's willing to rework his contract (which i think he will) hell yes keep him and davis. look what two tight ends did last night for new england.

Why get rid of any of them? Cooley is much more of a clutch player. He makes the big catch at the right times. There is a reason is one of if not the greatest Redskins tight ends of all time. With Davis he is fast enough to be a slot reciever giving us another big weapon down the field or across the middle. Keep the two of them, re-work Cooley's contract, and let the man stay. We need a core group of players to mentor the younger ones, til the next generation is ready to take over. That way there is always a little form of consistancy which we haven't had in decades. Right now to get rid of Cooley would be so detrimental to the team and organization, he is the London Fletcher of the offense, in terms of what he brings to the field and team. Why do you think Moss was resigned? for that very reason. Stop the talk of getting rid of Cooley, and instead embrace what these two guys can do for a few more years. It will be magical. HAIL SKINS!!!!!

Chris Cooley has proven to be one of the most reliable and consistent Tight Ends in the NFL. Fred Davis has had a nice game. Fred Davis will become a better tightend and asset for the Redskins if he is able to further compete and learn the postion from Chris. Dont forget about two tight end sets....Maybe Mike Sellers blocking for Tim Hightower down in the endzone. You need heart. Without you are just a tinman...

As great as Cooley has been for the Redskins, Davis has proven more than once that when he gets significant playing time he delivers.
Davis is younger and more athletic, plus Logan Paulsen is also an option.

Why not do exactly what the patriots are doing with their two TE sets and let Rex sling it for over 500 yards as well no reason to let them either go Paulsen and Sellers are gonna be the ones to watch Both Cooley and Davis have gotten better at blocking and Darell Young has been handed the reigns over mike
