Just a few days ago, Chris Cooley said that he was making "dramatic progress" in rehabbing his injured knee and stated that "I'm 100 percent confident that I’ll play against the Giants."
A few days later he did not sound so sure.
He was asked after the Buccaneers preseason game in which he, like most of the starters, did not play, if the plan was for him to take the football field immediately to prepare for the Sept. 11 opener.
"The plan is for me to play when I’m healthy," he said.
Now, this does not mean that Cooley is certain to miss the Giants game. All it means is that seems to be less confident today about playing than he was a few days ago. We have nine days before the Giants come to town and a lot could happen. But right now it appears that Cooley's chances of playing in that game are something less than 100 percent.
