Did Trent Williams spill the beans who the starting quarterback will be on the sideline during the Redskins’ preseason game on Thursday?
During a TV interview with Doc Walker, the Redskins left tackle was asked what it was like to play the entire first half in all of the preseason games including the fourth one, normally an occasion where starters sit out.
“It’s all right,” Williams said. “You know we’ve got our starting quarterback out there, you know, Rex or Beck.”
John Beck took all of the snaps on Thursday. Did Williams slip and reveal who Mike Shanahan’s starter will be before quickly recovering and slipping in a mention of Rex Grossman?
It seems highly unlikely that Shanahan had made up his mind prior to the game and if he had it is even more unlikely that he revealed his choice to the team. So, no, Williams did not let the official word on who has won the job slip.
His thoughts may have reflected his personal preference or who he thinks will win the job or just the scuttlebutt going around the locker room.
Or perhaps what Williams meant nothing and we’re trying entirely too hard to find any pattern in the tea leaves to figure out who will take the first snap against the Giants on Sept. 11.
What do you think? Did Williams reveal state secrets? His preference? Or should we stop parsing words?

Hmmm. Doesn't matter. Go skins

What a waste of time it was to read this.

@SKINSRLIFE, Agreed. It's pretty obvious Trent was just referring to the fact that Rex & Beck have both been playing with the 1st team throughout the preseason.
