I was on Redskins Nation with Larry Michal (catch me on there on Comcast SportsNet every Thursday at 5:30 this season) this week and I briefly touched on the need for the Redskins to make a big play if they are going to beat the Giants.
In the season opener against Dallas a year ago, it was DeAngelo Hall getting the strip of Tashard Choice and scampering in for the touchdown as time expired in the first half. That completely turned the game in the Redskins' favor and they were able to hang on for the win.
That is the kind of play that the Redskins have not been able to pull off against the Giants. They did get a 64-yard touchdown pass from Rex Grossman to Anthony Armstrong late in last year's season finale against New York but that was too late to make a difference.
If Washington can get a Brandon Banks punt return for a score, a long touchdown run from Tim Hightower or Roy Helu, or a pick six from Josh Wilson sometime in the early going, that could get them off to the start that they need to break the six-game losing streak against the Giants.
