Judging by the way the roster was used on Sunday, Mike Sellers (pictured) and Leonard Hankerson are going to have a hard time getting on the field anytime soon.
Sellers is the fourth tight end and the Redskins are committed to Logan Paulsen as the No. 3 tight end and Darrel Young as the No. 1 fullback. Young played less than 15 snaps at fullback as the Redskins went with multi-tight end formations. Coach Mike Shanahan said Monday that Sellers “will play a lot,” for the Redskins this year. We’ll see. His 2011 salary is now guaranteed since he was on the Week 1 roster so he might as well be kept around as insurance.
As for Hankerson, even though he was a third round pick, he’s fallen behind Niles Paul on the depth chart. Hankerson doesn’t play special teams (Paul does) and hasn’t been consistent in practice (Paul has).
