Last Thursday after making a nice, juggling catch of a Kellen Clemens pass to give the Redskins a preseason win over the Bucs, Done Stallworth was realistic about his chances of remaining with the Redskins. The eight-year veteran evaluated his chances of making the team as “50-50.”
On Saturday the coin flip came up in his favor and he was a member of the team.
“I wouldn’t have been surprised either way,” he said. I was prepared and ready if I was to be released and I was prepared and ready to help this team win ballgames if I made the team. I’m glad to be a part of it, glad they picked me to be one of the 53 come this weekend.”
Stallworth did not know if he would be active on Sunday when the Redskins take on the Giants but he was doing whatever he could to increase his chances of playing.
As he wrapped up a locker room session with reporters, he mentioned that he had to leave for a meeting. The last question was whether or not he was working on special teams to increase his chances of playing. As it turns out the meeting he was going to was for special teams.
“Working on it right now, that’s where I’m headed,” he said.
