Sure the "quarterback question" is whether John Beck or Rex Grossman will be the starter against the New York Giants a week from Sunday. But they both will make the team and it is likely that both will start at some point this year.
The other question revolves around not who will start but how many the Redskins will keep. The team kept three last year with Donovan McNabb joining Beck and Grossman.
However, that was a departure from Mike Shanahan's normal practices when he was in Denver. Almost every year after John Elway retired following the 1998 season Shanahan kept just two signal callers on the roster.
What will he do this year? In our Point-Counterpoint on the 53-man roster, Ryan O'Halloran and I disagree. I think that the Redskins will create room to carry Brandon Banks as a kick-return specialist by carrying just two QB's. Ryan doesn't think that Kellen Clemens would have come on board without some sort of implicit assurances that he would be the third quarterback on the roster.
I'm not sure where Clemens gets the juice to be able to demand some sort of guarantee of a job, but we will see.
