This ‘Victory Monday’ deal is interesting to say the least. The first word we got was that linebacker London Fletcher nixed the off day and told the coaching staff the players would report for work Monday.
That was the locker room line – tight end Chris Cooley said it was the first time in his career that an off day was turned down. But Fletcher spoke late in the media session, he said he expected Shanahan to bring them in anyway.
Three hours later, Shanahan said there wasn’t going to be a ‘Victory Monday’ even though there was one last year in Week 1. Regardless, the tone of the locker room was positive – this is a group that wants to work.
