Besides rookie running back DeMarco Murray, the Redskins’ defense will be challenged by Cowboys second-year receiver Dez Bryant.
Miles Austin didn’t practice again Thursday and missed last week’s win over Buffalo with a hamstring injury. But even before Austin departed, the Cowboys were targeting Bryant more often.
The last four games both played: Bryant – 30 targets-16 catches-272 yards; Austin – 21-14-170.
Last week against Buffalo, Bryant caught all six passes thrown his way for 74 yards, including a 34-yard touchdown.
“The guy’s a beast when he wants to play,” Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett said. “He made an unbelievable catch over the top of the corner last week. He’s hard to bring down. He’s the kind of guy you want on your football team.”
In two games against the Redskins, Bryant has 12 catches for 119 yards.
