The Packers’ 35-21 win over the Bears may have set up a situation that could help the Redskins decide on their future quarterback.
The win wrapped up home field advantage throughout the playoffs for the Packers. Like the Redskins, the Packers will be playing what amounts to an exhibition game next Sunday against the Lions. Given the presence of Ndamukong Suh, who is not above going beyond the letter and spirit of the law when it comes to rough stuff, Green Bay will have good reason to keep quarterback Aaron Rodgers on the sideline and out of harm’s way.
That would put backup Matt Flynn in at signal caller. Flynn, 26, was a seventh-round pick of the Packers in 2009. He has attempted 88 passes in his career and he has one start under his belt.
If Flynn starts, or if he sees considerable playing time after an early exit by Rodgers, it would be on interest to the Redskins because Flynn is an unrestricted free agent after the season. He could be of interest to teams looking for a quarterback, which, of course, the Redskins have been for the past two decades. Any more film on Flynn beyond those 88 regular-season pass attempts and some preseason action would help the Redskins make an evaluation.
There will be plenty of time to talk about Flynn’s fit in Washington and whether or not he has the potential to be the answer. There could well be some more fodder for that discussion added on Sunday.

In possession of a twenty point lead against Denver a few weeks back, the Pack sat Aaron and let Flynn play late in the game. He threw one pass. PICK.
I watched Flynn in Green Bay's final tune-up, pre-season game this year. He played with the starters. Matt completed only two of ten passes and threw an interception. He also fumbled the ball on a sack.
Matt Flynn "may" not be the answer.

He may not be but I wouldn't judge him on a preseason game and one pass vs. Denver. Played pretty well vs. Pats in only regular-season action. We'll see.

I for one would rather sign Matt Flynn as he has sat for four years behind a great quarterback in Aaron Rodgers. He is lighting up the Lions today. I think the draft pick that we would typically use on a quarterback this year, which could be anywhere from four to seven, would be bettwer suited to use else where. Let's say we sign Flynn as our quarterback and use a three or four to draft Ryan Lindely from SD State (QB). We bring back Rex for one year and let Lindely hold the clip board and learn. Follow me here, there is a lot of ifs. If the Browns, Jaguars and Buccanneers all win, we move up to the fourth pick. Indy drafts Luck; St. Louis trades back with Cleveland and the Browns take RGIII; the Vikings take WR Blackmon. We then take Matt Kalil because let's face it, Trent Williams hasn't exactly been stellar at LT. Besides that, one more joint and he's gone for the year. This is the best possible dream scenario but I think it would be our best bet. If this doesn't pan out then next year we are in a position to draft Barkley.
