Some have wondered why Mike Shanahan did not pull DeAngelo Hall from the Patriots game when, after getting flagged for defensive holding, he picked up the penalty flag and heaved it down the field. That tacked 15 additional yards onto the five-yard holding penalty.
Earlier this year, Shanahan pulled Trent Williams from the 49ers game after the tackle was penalized for fighting. But after committing a foul that was equally dumb, Hall stayed in the game.
Shanahan said that he didn’t pull Hall because he didn’t see what happened.
“I didn’t see it. I saw like flag day, I saw about eight flags out there,” he said. “I found out what happened later.”
Shanahan said that he clearly saw Williams’ infraction but that was not the case here. “I didn’t see what happened with DeAngelo,” he said. “If I would have seen what happened, I would have taken him off.”
