Here are some upcoming free agents to watch in the Broncos-Patriots game:
Broncos: QB Brady Quinn, WR Eddie Royal
Quinn was a first-round pick of the Browns in 2007 but he is now a certified NFL bust. In his one extended opportunity, he started nine games for Cleveland in 2009. The Browns went 2-7 in his starts and Quinn completed just 53 percent of his passes and had a sub-mediocre QB rating of 67.2. We are unlikely to see him today unless Tim Tebow gets injured. Mike Shanahan drafted Royal but, as we discussed here earlier this week, he might not be what the Redskins need at this time.
Patriots: WR Deion Branch, C Dan Connolly, DE Shaun Ellis, S James Ihedigbo
The Patriots have a way of locking up their young talent and this free agent group of evidence of that. Ihedigbo, who just turned 28, is the only player who might fit the Redskins’ free agent target profile. Next season Connolly will be 30, Branch 32, and Ellis 35.
But, then again, maybe Connolly, however, could fill if Brandon Banks gets dinged up.
