Lockout? What lockout?
Dire predictions that the NFL’s labor strife that occupied the sports headlines would sour many fans to the league did not turn out to be true if the latest television ratings are any indication.
The top-rated TV program for the week was the Giants-Packers playoff game on Sunday night. An average of 25.3 percent of American homes watched that game, a total 45.1 million viewers. That made it the most-watched divisional-round game ever.
After Saturday’s games, it was announced that the Broncos-Patriots game had the record for most viewers for divisional game. So that record lasted less than 24 hours.
In all, the four NFL playoff games over the weekend were the top four rated TV shows of the week. That includes the Texans-Ravens game on Sunday, which started a 1 p.m. Eastern time, well out of prime time slotting.
