As it turns out, Mark Rypien isn’t the only key member of the Redskins’ 1991 Super Bowl team who is a party to the latest head injury lawsuit against the NFL.
According to the Associated Press, Chip Lohmiller, who was the Redskins’ kicker from 1988-1994, also is a plaintiff in the suit. The AP reports that “several hundred” former players on the lawsuit and that the lawyers involved say that the number could reach over 1,000.
Lohmiller had his best season in that Super Bowl year. He led the NFL with 149 points scored. The Indianapolis Colts scored just 143 points that year as a team, making Lohmiller one of the few players to outscore an entire team for a season.
