The Redskins are remaining mostly silent about the $36 million salary cap penalty that the league imposed on the team.
Appearing on SiriusXM Radio on Tuesday afternoon, Bruce Allen said, “We’re just going to let it play out” when host Tim Ryan asked him about the penalty and pending arbitration.
And this morning, Rich Campbell of the Washington Times tweeted that Mike Shanahan did not want to discuss the impact that the penalty had on the team’s offseason plans. Shanahan did say that they were notified of the penalties an hour before free agency started on Tuesday, March 13. Adam Schefter reported that the team first caught wind of the possibility of a penalty when he called them on Monday, the day before the start of free agency.
