It appears that the major changes to the Redskins’ new uniforms, which will be unveiled at an event today in New York 11 a. m., are mostly going to be under the hood.
DetroitLions.com posted an interview with Tim O’Neill, the team’s equipment manager, who said that the major change will be the “Nike Speed Machine” design.
“If we hung a jersey on a hanger, it would look like a medium t-shirt,” O’Neill said. “It’s amazing material. It’s a form-fitting silhouetted uniform.”
The jerseys are 30 percent lighter when dry and 50 percent lighter when wet, according to O’Neill.
The Lions can’t make any changes to the overall look of their uniforms since they have done so in the past five years. The Redskins could make such changes but indications are that the Seahawks are the only team that will have an extreme makeover of their uniform.
But there could be a surprise as Nike and the NFL have managed to keep things pretty well under wraps. All we know about the Redskins’ new threads is that Brian Orakpo likes them as he reported via Twitter. We’ll be here to get you up to speed on what changes, if any, there are to the to the Redskins uniforms.
