The Redskins announced via Twitter that 57 players attended the first day of offseason workouts on Monday at the team facility. The didn’t say which players were there but it’s a pretty good bet that Brain Orakpo and DeAngelo Hall were among those in attendance.
Orakpo has a workout incentive in his contract that could pay him an additional $574,000 and Hall has one worth $500,000.
To collect on workout bonuses of that size, the players usually have to participate in 80 percent of the scheduled workout days.
Orakpo’s workout bonus is the third highest in the league behind only cornerback Darrelle Revis of the Jets, who can collect a cool $1 million for pumping iron, and his teammate, offensive tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson, who can make $750,000. Hall is one of 17 players with workout bonuses worth half a million bucks.
Here are some of the other Redskins players who have workout bonuses per Rotoworld (note that their participation levels needed to collect might be lower than 80 percent):
- DE Jarvis Jenkins $250,000
- TE Chris Cooley $100,000
- DE Adam Carriker $50,000
- C Will Montgomery $50,000
- DE Kedric Golston $15,000
