Gregg Williams NFL career was facing at least a year long interruption after receiving an indefinite suspension from the NFL for operating a bounty system in New Orleans and then continuing to do it after he was told to stop.
It looks now like he won’t be able to get employment in the NFL for a very, very long time, if ever.
Filmmaker Sean Pamphilon has just released the audio of Williams speech to the Saints’ defense prior to their loss to the 49ers in the 2011 season playoffs. The recording is available on YouTube but we’re not going to embed it here because of the extremely strong language used. Here is the link to it but be warned it’s not suitable for work or for many other environments.
“Kill the head and the body will die,” Williams said in the speech. He then went on to discuss a specific player’s head.
“We’ve got to do everything in the world to make sure we kill Frank Gore’s head,” Williams told his players. “We want him running sideways. We want his head sideways.”
He also told his players to try to injure receiver Michael Crabtree’s knee and said that they need to “find out” about concussions suffered by receiver Kyle Williams.
Williams might want to find another line of work. That may well have been his final speech as an NFL coach.
