The outstanding website Pro Football Focus put together its top 101 of 2011 list and there were two members of the Redskins on it. That doesn’t seem like many but remember that if the top 101 was distributed evenly throughout the league each team would get three players on it with five spots left over.
The part that Redskins fans might find disappointing is the fact that the two who made the list barely made it. London Fletcher checked in at No. 96 and Brian Orakpo was right behind him at No. 97.
Although Orakpo’s performance in 2011 was something of a disappointment in the eyes of some, the PFF crew did not have a problem with it. His overall grade was +26, which was fifth out of all 3-4 outside linebackers. And he had 59 combined sacks, hits, and hurries.
And they are in awe of Fletcher’s ability to keep rolling at the age of 36 as they pointed out strengths in both run stuffing and in pass coverage. “A complete year for a complete player,” they conclude.
