Is Albert Haynesworth finished playing football? One of the people who knows him the best thinks that he is.
Reuben Frank covers the Eagles for CSNphilly.com and he asked Jim Washburn, Philly’s defensive line coach, about the former $100 million Redskins. Washburn was Haynesworth’s position coach when in Tennessee, where the defensive tackle had his best seasons.
“I think he’s finished,” said Washburn. “Gotta degenerative back.”
The Redskins traded Haynesworth to the Patriots shortly after the NFL lockout ended last season. New England released him in midseason and the Bucs claimed him on waivers. In all, he played in 13 games last year and recorded 22 tackles and no sacks.
Perhaps there is an impediment to him getting a job beyond his apparent loss of his once-dominant skills. “Everybody hates him,” Washburn told Frank.
Well, almost everyone. “I love him,” the coach added.
It’s a pretty good bet that the Redskins organization and fans are in the former camp.
