Redskins training camp starts today, here is what you need to know:
Where: Redskins Park, Ashburn, VA. To get there, point your favorite maps program or GPS to 21300 Redskins Park Drive Ashburn, VA 20147.
When: The first practice, a walkthough that is not open to the public, is today at 10:40. The afternoon practice is open to fans; it starts at 3:00, the gates at Redskins Park open at 1:00. The complete schedule is here.
Cost: Admission and parking are free. You will need to get and print out a free invitation, you can get that here.
What you can bring: Coolers with food and drinks are permitted or you can buy some there (cash only). Chairs are permitted, as are still cameras. Video cameras are not permitted.
Tips
Come early and leave late. The roads going to and from Redskins Park are barely able to handle the normal flow of traffic and adding cars for a few thousand fans to the mix can lead to some serious gridlock.
The players are pretty good about signing autographs, although it would be a mistake to come for one or two days and plan on getting one specific players to sign. The most popular players draw the biggest crowds of autograph seeker, of course, and not every player signs every day.
Try to get along the fence (another reason to come early) to get the best view, especially if you have small children.
