In addition to providing an update on the ailing offensive line, Coach Mike Shanahan discussed the status of two other Redskins who are dealing with injuries.
Running back Roy Helu, who has tendinitis in his left Achilles’ tendon, missed practice again and is not expected to suit up Saturday in Chicago.
“Any time you have a sore Achilles’ a couple days before the game, without getting a lot of reps, it makes more sense to get him ready for Indy or the last preseason game, depending on how sore it is,” Shanahan said.
That means two of the Redskins’ four running backs in the mix for playing times –Helu and Tim Hightower – will be unavailable Saturday.
“It sure complicates it,” Shanahan said of the running back competition.
Meantime, reserve linebacker Markus White sustained a rib/back injury early in Wednesday practice and did not return to the field. His availability for the Bears’ game is unclear.
