Here is what you need to know on this Friday, one week before the Redskins cut their roster to 53 players.
Hightower in vs. Colts (maybe)
Just 24 hours after saying that Tim Hightower may not be ready for the regular season opener on Sept. 9, Mike Shanahan said that the running back is likely to play.
Shanahan said that Hightower, who said that he has had up and down days during his recover from a torn ACL he suffered last October, will not start and seemed to indicate that he would see little action.
It was widely assumed that Evan Royster would start in Hightower’s place. But it was revealed on Thursday that he has a knee injury and will not play on Saturday.
With Roy Helu Jr. still out (Achilles) that would leave the bulk of the work for Alfred Morris, the rookie who started last week against the Bears.
If Hightower does get only token action, we should see more of speedy Tristan Davis, perhaps with the first team.
Confused? Just wait until game time when more shuffles are possible probable.
Today’s schedule
There is no media availability at Redskins Park today as the team goes through its final preparations for the Colts game tomorrow.
