Robert Griffin III’s week just keeps getting better and better.
On Tuesday, the Redskins rookie was nominated by the NFL for player of the week and rookie of the week. The winner is determined by fan vote and will be announced Friday.
Griffin’s historic debut for rookie quarterbacks included completing 19 of 26 passes for 320 yards, two touchdowns and 42 yards rushing on 10 attempts in a 40-32 victory in New Orleans.
For player of the week honors, Griffin is up against the Dallas quarterback Tony Romo (22 of 29 and 307 yards in a 24-17 win over the Giants) and Atlanta signal caller Matt Ryan (23 of 31 for 299 yards in beating the Chiefs).
To claim rookie of the week, Griffin must beat out Jets wide receiver Stephen Hill (89 yards receiving, two touchdowns), Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones (five tackles, sack, fumble forced), Buccaneers running back Doug Martin (95 yards rushing) and Vikings kicker Blair Walsh (4 for 4 on field goals, including 55 yarder in overtime.)
