It looks like the Redskins have brought back linebacker Markus Whyte to replace the injured Brian Orakpo and have promoted defensive end Doug Worthington from the practice squad to the 53-man roster in place of Adam Carriker, who also is out for the season.
From his Twitter account #Em_Whyte55, the 2011 seventh-round pick tweeted, “And we meet again #HTTR.”
Since #HTTR is the Twitter abbreviation for “Hail to the Redskins” it seems safe to assume that he has rejoined the team.
Mike Shanahan hinted yesterday that Worthington would be brought up from the practice squad. Reports started to emerge this morning that the move had been made and the news was confirmed via a text message to a reporter.
CSNwashington.com has confirmed both signings through a team source.
White was released by the Redskins during final cuts on Aug. 31. He signed with the Tampa Bay practice squad soon after that.
A team can sign a player off of another team’s practice squad as long as they put him on their 53-man roster.
White, 6-4, 266, was on the roster all of last season but he appeared in just two games. He converted to linebacker after playing defensive end at Florida State.
