Here is what you need to know on this Friday, September 7, two days before the Redskins open their season against the Saints
Chat starts at 12:30 on Sunday
Hey, according to sources there is a game that actually counts on Sunday and according to some other sources you’re going to want to talk about it. So we’ll have our Redskins-Saints chat rolling right here starting at 12:30 with kickoff at 1:00.
See you then.
Running backs suddenly healthy
Just a week or so ago, there was concern that the Redskins might have difficulty finding a healthy running back to play on Sunday. Now it looks like the Redskins will have three to choose from.
The one back who truly was ailing, Tim Hightower, has been released. Roy Helu Jr. had some Achilles issues that kept him out of the Colts preseason game but he played in the Bucs game and has practiced all week. Likewise, Evan Royster, who had an inflamed knee, did not play against the Colts but he looked fine against the Bucs and has practiced all week.
For a while, it looked like Alfred Morris would be the last man standing for the Saints game. But now he’s one of three backs the Redskins can and probably will use on Sunday.
Today’s schedule
11:50—Practice, closed to the
media after first 30 minutes
After practice (approx. 2:00)—Open locker room and Mike Shanahan news
conference.
In case you missed it
How to beat the Saints.
Jim Haslett, for one, is confident in the Redskins’ secondary going into the Saints game.
20 in 20: How many wins would be enough?
Days until: Redskins @ Saints 2; Redskins @ Rams 9; home opener vs. Bengals 16; RG3 vs. Cam @ FedEx Field 58; Super Bowl XLVII 149

Sheesh. For NFL coaches, the shanny's don't seem very bright. When I played fb in college, I got a rush a few days in advance when it was announced that I was the starting running back. It took me a few to come to the realization that I had beat out a guy who I loved to watch play. I also had to convince myself that I was better than I myself had previously thought. It seemed like everything changed over night. I pictured myself in the starting position, not just playing, from that point on. Sometimes coaches really do outsmart themselves. Their philosophy obviously only pertains to one position. NOT FOOLING ANYBODY SHANNY'S JUST STRESSING YOUR RUNNING BACKS TO KEEP A SECRET OR WORRY ABOUT THE UNKNOWN. Darn I thought I did well enough to start. Either he's the dumbest coach in the league, or the smartest. Wait, no playoffs no super bowls. I answered my own question.

seriously? shannahan has won many playoff games and 2 superbowls. Now that he's back in the league, he has turned around the culture of the redskins. no more just getting old free agent veterans, this team has gotten younger under shanny and the draft is playing a bigger part for the team. it's only been 3 yrs. and he had a very big mess to clean up. he came to one of the most poorly run teams in the nfl with a revolving door of old players, qb's, and coaches. shanny was very instrumental as offensive coordinator and developing steve young for his super bowl victory. He then went to denver where he produced 1000 yrd rushers out of seemingly thin air and put john elway over the hump and won 2 superbowls. He is turning washington into a better team and if snyder leaves him alone, they will get back to the top. Shannahan, dumbest coach in the league? you're brain seems to have been seriously wrecked.
