Today, a record five rookie quarterbacks started in the NFL. How did they do? Here’s a comparison:
Robert Griffin III, Redskins
Won at New Orleans 40-32
The stat line: 19/26, 320 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT
The story: Griffin led the Redskins to 40 points, the most the Redskins have scored in Mike Shanahan’s previous 32 games as the head coach. He added 42 yards rushing on 10 attempts.
Andrew Luck, Colts
Lost at Chicago 41-21
The stat line: 23/45, 309 yards, 1 TD, 3 INT
The story: Luck’s TD came in the fourth quarter long after the outcome had been decided.
Brandon Weeden, Browns
Lost vs. Philadelphia 17-16
The stat line: 12/35, 118 yards, 0 TD, 4 INT
The story: The oldest starting QB today was clearly the worst. If you crunch those numbers it comes to a putrid QB rating of 5.1. And, still, the Eagles only won by a point.
Ryan Tannehill, Dolphins
Lost at Houston 30-10
The stat line: 20/36, 219 yards, 0 TD, 3 INT
The story: Tannehill did not lead a touchdown drive. Miami’s only TD came on a 72-yard punt return.
Russell Wilson, Seahawks
Lost at Arizona 20-16
The stat line: 18/34, 153 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
The story: Only RG3 won his debut but Wilson came close. He drove the Seahawks from their own 20 to the Cardinals 4, converting a third and 14 and a fourth a six along the way. The drive, however, died on downs and the Cardinals were able to hang on.

Gotta love the way that RG3 executed the game plan yesterday.
