There is chatter going around that Fred Davis has a concussion. We don’t know that he does and we don’t know that he doesn’t.
The rumors apparently came from an answer that Mike Shanahan gave to a question about a hit to the head that the tight end took from Rams cornerback Janoris Jenkins. Here is the question (paraphrased) and Shanahan’s exact answer.
Q. Is Fred Davis subject to the concussion protocol after hit from Jenkins?
You know what, I haven’t talked to [head athletic trainer] Larry [Hess] on that. Looking at that hit to the head, if he’s not, he should be. That was a pretty good hit, probably as hard a hit as you are going to get to the head.
Note that no concussion symptoms are mentioned, just that Davis should be checked, perhaps as a precautionary measure.
So, while it doesn’t appear that Davis has any outward signs of having a concussion, he took such a hard hit that the trainers might check him out just in case.
