Pierre Garçon has played the past two games, but the Redskins wide receiver hasn't been completely healthy due to a nagging foot injury, offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said Thursday.
“He’s battling it,” Shanahan said. “I can tell. You can see it on the practice field and in the games. It hurts him to run. He’s got a lingering foot problem and it does hurt him.”
Garçon hauled in four passes for a 109 yards and a touchdown in the season-opening victory over the Saints. But the veteran suffered a right foot injury early in that game and, as a result, missed the next two contests.
Garçon made his return against the Buccaneers but has recorded a total of only four receptions and 44 yards since coming back. He was targeted a combined eight times in those games.
“He’s been able to play through it the last couple of weeks and it helps us having him out there,” Shanahan said. “But, no, I don’t think he’s 100-percent. I appreciate him battling through it and being out there for us. I just hope each week it gets better.”
