Here is what you need to know on this Monday, October 8, six days before the Redskins take on the 4-1 Vikings at FedEx Field.
Cundiff says that wrong thing at the wrong time
To his credit, Billy Cundiff was in front of his locker answering questions about missing a 31-yard field goal attempt late in the first half. The Redskins were leading 7-0 at the time and a 10-0 lead would have given them a lot of momentum going into the locker room.
But the miss took a lot of the air out of the stadium and the Falcons promptly marched down the field and tied the game with 30 seconds left until halftime.
An NFL kicker makes that kick at least 80 percent of the time. Nobody knows how the dynamic of the rest of the game if the Redskins had those three points. Well, nobody except for Cundiff.
"You look at the final score and obviously, even if I would've made that field goal we still would've needed 4 more points," he said.
Sorry Billy, wrong answer.
Even though he is mathematically correct, that is just not what you say at that time. What if a wide receiver dropped a pass in the end zone somewhere near halftime and said, “Well, we lost by 10 so my drop didn’t make any difference.”
Immediately after the game Mike Shanahan wouldn’t comment on whether or not he would bring in any kickers to try out this week. But after yesterday's miss and his misses from 31 and 41 yards in the previous game against the Bucs, it would surprise nobody if that was Cundiff’s final meeting with the media in the Redskins locker room. If that turns out to be true, it wasn’t a very good way to go out.
When will we know about RG3?
Robert Griffin III went home after suffering a concussion during yesterday’s game and he later tweeted that he expects to play against the Vikings on Sunday.
But that doesn’t mean that he is certain to play next week. He will be reexamined by a neurologist at some point. That could take place today. If it does, we should hear about the results when Shanahan talks to the media today at 3:00. If he doesn’t get examined until late today or tomorrow, we might not find out anything until Wednesday since tomorrow is an off day with no media availability.

GET BILLY CUNDIFF OUTTA THERE AND BRING BACK GRAHAM OR NEIL PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. We barely win games and we don't need to lose one b/c of our weak ass kicker !!!
