In voting results that surprise absolutely nobody, Robert Griffin III was named the NFL rookie of the week.
Again.
We are through six weeks of play and the Redskins’ quarterback has now taken the award three times.
How good is that? Well, Cam Newton had what many consider to be the best year a rookie quarterback has ever had in 2011. He won the rookie of the week award three times in 16 games.
Griffin earned the honors with his strong performance against the Vikings. He passed well, completing 17 of 22 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown. But he really caught everyone’s attention with his legs. He rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns. The signature moment was on his 76-yard touchdown run that clinched the game in the fourth quarter.
Griffin will try to win the award again this Sunday against the Giants.
