Here is what you need to know on this Thursday, November 15, three days before the Redskins face the Eagles at FedEx Field.
Eagle shuffle O-line
Quarterback is not the only spot on the Eagles offense where we may be seeing a new rookie starter.
Rookie Dennis Kelly, who has started the last three games at right guard, lined up with the first team at right tackle on Wednesday. King Dunlap, who started at right tackle against Dallas, split snaps at left tackle with Demetress Bell.
If he does line up at right tackle during the game, Kelly will be the fourth player in three games to play the position.
The Eagles offensive line has been a disaster area with three projected starters out for the season and a fourth, guard Danny Watkins, missing time recently as well. They have given up 29 sacks, tied for second-most in the NFL.
Kelly had not played particularly well at guard so it is hard to see how he will thrive moving one spot to the outside. If Ryan Kerrigan is going to break out of his recent sack slump—he has not sacked a quarterback since Week 4—a game where he will line up against an out of position rookie tackle and go after a rookie QB with limited mobility would seem to be a good place to start.
Hall fined
DeAngelo Hall’s next paycheck will be a bit lighter. He is going to be fined $30,000 by the NFL for his tirade against an official in Pittsburgh on Oct. 28.
After the late-game incident, which resulted in him being ejected from the game, Hall said that head linesman Dan McKenzie was “equally at fault” for the altercation because he was “dishing it out” just as much as he was during the argument.
The league did consider McKenzie’s role in the incident before deciding what punishment should be handed out to Hall and that was the reason why the decision took as long as it did. It is not known if McKenzie was found to have violated any protocols or if he was punished in any way.
