Here is what you need to know on this Thursday, November 22, Thanksgiving Day and the day the Redskins take on the Cowboys in Dallas.
Chat starts at 3:30
Quite frankly, I’m not really sure what time the Redskins game will kick off today. NFL.com says we’ll get started 4:15. I have NFL AM on and their graphic says it’s a 4:25 start. And I saw something the other day that said that after they dispose of the pregame festivities the actual kickoff is at 4:37.
The one time that you can count on today is 3:30. That’s when our chat will get going right here on Real Redskins. We’ll have Tarik in the press box at Jerry World, Jen X in the Bethesda Studios, and I’ll be manning the keyboard in front of the 55-inch Vizio in Ashburn.
We’ll just chat until whenever they do decide to kick off the game and then we’ll keep right on rolling until it’s over.
See you at 3:30.
Redskins defense improving
It would be a stretch to say that the Redskins defense has turned the corner but it might be fair to say that they are moving in a better direction.
After three games this season, the Redskins have given up 30 points or more in seven of their previous eight games going back to the end of the 2011 season. Since then they have not allowed more than 27 points to any opponent.
In their last seven games the Redskins have allowed an average of just under 22 points per game. That is slightly better than the NFL average of 23 ppg. Last year, when they ranked 13th in yards given up, they allowed 23 points per game.
If the Redskins can hold the opposition to in the low 20’s, they should have a reasonable chance to win the game with their offense, which is scoring about 26 points per game.
You would like to have a defense that allows your offense to have an off day. And with the exception of last Sunday’s game against the Foles-led Eagles they have yet to allow fewer than 21 points to any team this year.
But improvement to mediocre is better than no improvement at all. With their season on the line having a defense that gives them a fighting chance to win is a welcome development.
Today’s schedule

4:15—Redskins at Cowboys, FOX

In case you missed it
Players don’t often get second chances and DeJon Gomes wants to take advantage of his.
Where are we? The state of the Redskins after 10 games.
Days until: Monday night vs. Giants @ FedEx Field 11; Ravens @ Redskins 17; Redskins @ Eagles 31

Just think if Rak wasn't hurt, Jackson can get over his suspension and Mettiweather can get healthy. these guys would be in the top 3 . Hope minnefield is rehabbing alot because I think he can be the shutdown corner we need. D Hall is playing his butt off and so is wilso. Hopefully Robinson is learning from Fletch. Offense we need a line help and Garcon to get healthy. Josh morgan has impressed me. Dump Banks and Tana back there to return. Keep Captain Chaos because Paul has showed nothing.
