Here is what you need to know on this Sunday, November 18, the day the Redskins take on the Eagles at FedEx Field.
Chat at 12:30
It will be Tarik El-Bashir, Jennifer X Williams, and me chatting from the press box at FedEx Field during today’s Redskins-Eagles game. We’ll get things going at about 12:30 and roll until the game is over.
I might crank it up a little early so keep an eye on my Twitter feed @Rich_TandlerCSN, I’ll let everyone know when I get it rolling with a tweet.
See you then!
Ready for the quick turnaround
You play one game at a time with laser-like focus on nothing but the upcoming opponent. And that is the way you do it in the NFL unless you don’t.
Mike Shanahan revealed that during the bye week the Redskins coaches set aside preparation for the Eagles for a couple of days to get ready for their game that comes four days after that one. Here is what he told us on Monday.
“What you do is push for the bye week. We took a couple days and just looked at Dallas. Then, after that we looked at some personnel – offense and defense. We started yesterday [Sunday] on Philly. On a short week, you have the opportunity to do that if you have the bye before. If not, it makes it pretty tough.”
The schedule worked out well for them with the bye coming so close to their quick turnaround. That allowed them the luxury of getting in some work getting ready for Dallas without disrupting normal preparations.
The players were not exposed to any of the Dallas material; they will play it one game at a time. They will have an unusual late afternoon practice on Monday followed by their only full practice of the week on Tuesday, which is normally their day off. On Wednesday, there will be a walk through before getting on the plane to Dallas.
Then they will have what almost is another by week, with 11 days to recover from the quick turnaround before facing the Giants the night of Monday, Dec. 3.
