Here is what you need to know on this Wednesday, November 21, the day before the Redskins take on the Cowboys in Dallas.
Chat starts at 3:30
The game chat team will be split up on Thursday with Tarik El-Bashir reporting from Cowboys Stadium, Jen X piping in from the CSN Washington studios in Bethesda and yours truly watching on the 55-inch Vizio in the Real Redskins world headquarters in Ashburn.
I had my Thanksgiving dinner last week so there won’t be any issues with a tryptophan-induced coma or gravy stains on the keyboard on my end. Hopefully you’ll be awake and alert and joining in the fun.
It’s a 4:15 kickoff and we’ll get rolling around 3:30. See you then.
Romo owns Thanksgiving
The Cowboys might be banged up on the offensive line and at running back and their wide receivers are wildly inconsistent but as long as they have Tony Romo at quarterback they have a chance to put up some points.
That is especially true on Thanksgiving. The Cowboys are 5-0 with Romo at the helm in the Turkey Day extravaganza they host every year. Romo has a 115.4 QB rating with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions.
Ex-Redskins news
Last year, Jabar Gaffney led the Redskins in receiving with 68 catches and 947 yards. He turned out to be one and done in D. C. The Patriots signed him but released him in August. He signed with the Dolphins in October but he never got on the field much. After Gaffney played in three games with four receptions for 68 yards, Miami released him yesterday.
Last year, Graham Gano led the Redskins in scoring with 118 points. The Redskins cut him in August in favor of Billy Cundiff and chose not to give him a tryout when they decided to release Cundiff. Gano signed with the Panthers yesterday as Carolina decided to part ways with kicker Justin Medlock.
Finally, Anthony Armstrong, who was second on the Redskins in receiving yards in 2010, had a tryout with, wait for it, the Cowboys on Tuesday. This raised all kinds of conspiracy theories involving Rob Ryan taking Armstrong into a room lit by a single bright white light bulb and grilling him on the intricacies of the Redskins’ zone read offense. But that probably did not take place, as Dallas did not sign Armstrong to a contract.
Today’s schedule
The team will practice prior to leaving for Dallas but there will be no media availability.
