On the skids
We have noted the Redskins’ various losing streaks here over the past few days but here they are again: three straight losses overall, three against the Eagles, four after they bye, and eight when the other team starts a rookie quarterback.
Let’s also note a few slumps the Redskins are in. They have lost nine out of their last 10 at home and they have not beaten an NFC East team not named the New York Giants since Oct. 3, 2010. That was Donovan McNabb’s return to Philly, which seems like it was 100 years ago. In reality it was 37 games ago.
Mike Shanahan has repeatedly said that he is rebuilding the Redskins “the right way” as opposed to doing a quick fix. But at some point, the rebuilding need to bear some fruit in the form of wins. That point has arrived.
The Redskins do not need to go on a run and make the playoffs. But they can’t lose to an Eagles team that is in disarray. They need to be competitive in Dallas on Thanksgiving. They can’t let a team like the Browns start feeling better at their expense. The Giants and Ravens at least need to be pushed to the limits by the Redskins.
