The Redskins gave Nick Foles a rough introduction to life as a starting NFL quarterback. They picked him off on both of his first two drives, setting up a touchdown with one of them.
The second pass the rookie threw was batted up in the air by London Fletcher and picked off by DeAngelo Hall, who got the interception at the Philly 31. He returned it to the nine and two plays later Robert Griffin III flipped a six-yard touchdown pass to Darrel Young to put the Redskins up 7-0 less than two minutes into the game.
Brandon Meriweather, playing in his first game of the year for Washington, picked off Foles to end the Eagles’ second drive.
Philly drove for a field goal early in the second quarter and the Redskins lead 7-3.
