The Redskins have had a very productive day and they didn’t even take the field.
Thanks to results of the 1:00 NFL games today, the Redskins have moved to within a game of a wild card playoff spot.
They essentially drew an inside straight in necessary results of three early games. Three 6-4 NFC teams were in action. The Vikings lost to the Bears, the Falcons edged the Bucs, and a field goal as time expired game the Dolphins a win over the Seahawks.
With those results, Minnesota, Seattle, and Tampa Bay are all tied for the second wild card playoff spot at 6-5. That puts the 5-6 Redskins a game behind that spot. Washington holds tiebreakers over the Bucs and Vikings by virtue of head-to-head wins over both teams earlier in the season.
One more team could join the logjam of 6-5 teams. The 5-5 Saints host the 49ers in a late afternoon game. The Redskins also beat New Orleans earlier this year.

Tampa, Seattle & Minnesota is 6-5, not 5-6.
