The Redskins have opened up a 14-3 lead midway through the second quarter on the shell shocked Dallas Cowboys.
They took a Dez Bryant fumble recovery by DeJon Gomes at the Dallas 49 and took six plays to score on Alfred Morris’ one-yard run.
The Redskins’ first TD was more spectacular. For the second time in as many weeks, Robert Griffin III and Aldrick Robinson have hooked up on a long-distance touchdown pass.
On first and 15 at the Washington 32, Griffin executed a play fake. That had the Dallas safety looking into the backfield and froze him for a moment. That was long enough for Robinson to turn on the jets and get past the secondary. Griffin put the ball on the money and Robinson cruised in for the score.
That gave Washington a 7-3 lead. The Cowboys drove to a field goal on their opening possession. It looked like they were going to score a touchdown but London Fletcher jarred Tony Romo’s pass away from Miles Austin in the back of the end zone.
