Robert Griffin III is up for two NFL awards this week and you can vote to help him win.
For the fourth time in his 10 games as an NFL quarterback Griffin has been nominated for the NFL Rookie of the Week award. On Sunday he became the first rookie ever to post a perfect quarterback rating of 158.3 in a game with at least 15 pass attempts. Griffin completed 14 of 15 passes for 200 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions.
It looks like Griffin’s main competition for the award will be Jaguars wide receiver Justin Blackmon, who caught seven passes for 236 yards and a touchdown against the Texans on Sunday. Also nominated are Patriots defensive back Alfonzo Dennard, Colts receiver T. Y. Hilton, and Bucs running back Doug Martin.
Griffin has won the rookie award each of the previous three times he was nominated.
RG3 is also in the mix with Tom Brady of the Patriots and Matt Schaub of Houston to be the FedEx Air player of the week. Schaub would have to be considered the favorite as he passed for 527 yards, the second-most in a game in NFL history, to lead his team past Jacksonville in overtime.
Griffin won the FedEx award in his NFL debut against the Saints.
