—The news that Tyler Polumbus is out and that Mo Hurt will start at right tackle is a mild surprise. But you never really know about concussions and it appears that Polumbus was not cleared to play. Hurt has a half a season’s worth of NFL play under his belt but it’s all been at guard. It will be interesting to see how he performs out in space.
—We don’t have much to go on in terms of history of RG3 coming back after an injury. But a week after he missed much of the second half of the Falcons game he had 13 rushing attempts for 123 yards against the Vikings including his signature 76-yard touchdown run. That doesn’t mean he’ll run a lot but if he doesn’t it won’t be because they’re holding him back.
—I think the Redskins want to get off to an early lead. It’s not that they ever want to trail early but I think that in addition to the usual probes and setups, the script for the first 15 plays will have a few deep shots. If the Redskins get up 14-0 the boo-birds will be out.
—Nick Foles has had some pretty good games since the Redskins throttled him in the first meeting, Foles’ first NFL start. But he’s still shaky, the Redskins need to get after him.
