The Redskins will be collecting toys for needy children before this week's Ravens-Redskins game. Here is the team's press release:
LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – Fans attending the Washington Redskins game against the Baltimore Ravens at FedExField on Sunday, Dec. 9 are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys to support the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation “Touchdown for Tots” toy drive benefiting the Toys for Tots Foundation.
Local Marines will be stationed at all stadium gates and suites entrances on Sunday, Dec. 9 with collection bins to collect toys to distribute to thousands of children and teens in need throughout the Washington, D.C. Metro Area this holiday season.
Fans can visit any official Redskins store location or www.redskinsteamstore.com to make a tax-deductible donation to “Touchdown for Tots.” Donations will be added to merchandise total. Every $10 donated will put a new toy in the hands of deserving children in the D.C. Metro Area.
In 2011, Redskins’ fans donated more than 1,380 toys and $41,009.80 at the “Touchdown for Tots” Redskins game at FedExField. An additional $1,940.31 and 494 toys were donated from Women of Washington Redskins (WOW) and Redskins Kids Club events, as well as from other local organizations. The toys and the funds collected in 2011 allowed more than 5,100 children and teens in the Washington, D.C. Metro area to unwrap a gift during the holiday season
