Here is what you need to know on this Friday, December 21, two days before the Redskins take on the Eagles in Philadelphia.
Chat at 12:30 on Sunday
I haven’t been to a road game in a while so I’ll be happy to be hitting the road well before dawn on Sunday to go to the press box high atop Lincoln Financial Field to bring you coverage of the Eagles-Redskins game. Tarik will be there as well and Jen X will be in the Bethesda studios.
We will be chatting it up starting at about 12:30 and rolling through the end of the game. It’s the sixth big, must-win game in a row so come on and talk about it.
See you then.
Worst to first
The NFL noted yesterday that the Redskins have a chance to go from last place in its division in one year to the division championship the next. The league said that if the Redskins pull it off, it would be the 10th consecutive year that a team has been able to accomplish that feat.
Worst to first may not be unusual in the NFL but it is in Redskins history. The Redskins have won the NFC East six times—in 1972, 1983, 1984, 1987, 1991, and 1999. They did not finish last in the division in any of the years prior to winning it.
In fact, the Redskins have won the division coming off of a playoff season every year but one. In 1998 the Redskins were 6-10 but they weren’t in last place in the division; the 3-13 Eagles were the last-place entry that season.
