Trent Williams Cap hit was pretty high this year, something like 8 million. If they can sustain that in a year with a cap penalty they can do it in a normal year. So reduce Trent's salary and push it up later.

They should also try to extend Brian Orakpo and reduce his salary this year.

Yeah, but Trent's base is only $5 million and that's the only part that can be manipulated to save money. You'd also be pushing his cap number for next year up into the $13 million range. That could be someplace they'll go but it's not going to buy much space and it's going to create issues down the road.

I just checked it according to several salary cap sites. Last year his hit was actually over 13 million. If they could afford that this past year, they can afford it in 2014.
